Almond extract

Beat together the butter and sugar, then beat in the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Stir the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined.

Transfer the cookie dough to a small bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375-degrees. Roll out small sections of cookie dough and cut out shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Allow the sugar cookies to cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. In the meantime, make the frosting.

Frost the cooled cookies and allow the frosting to set up before serving. Serve and enjoy!
